President James R. Bellor passes
Our beloved President and founding director James R. Bellor passed away on December 8, 2018. He was buried on January 13, 2020 at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. His leadership and guidance shall be missed.
The Foundation awarded grants totaling $12,500 to 10 grantees in 2019. Our students are attending colleges in North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida, Georgia Maryland and Virginia. They are pursuing studies in the areas of medicine, law enforcement, business administration, marketing, and education.
All of our grantees have shown great determination and dedication in the pursuit of their educational goals. We are privileged to support them in their endeavors.
In his own words, this is what one of our grantees had to say about the help he received from the Bellor Foundation:
"I started attending the University of Central Florida in the fall of 2013 and I received my Bellor Foundation grants beginning in my year. Upon reception of the Bellor Foundation grant, which helped ease the financial burden of college, it allowed me to focus more on school rather than my part time job. I part because of these grants, I graduated Summa Cum Laude in the Spring of 2016 from the University of Central Florida Honors College.
Upon graduation, I immediately entered a PhD program where I began research in Microbiology and immunology at the University of Miami. I am currently in my second year of study and will soon be a co-author of a paper. While I have not decided on what exactly I will do upon completion of my PhD, I would like to thank the Bellor Foundation for helping put me in this position to succeed."
